The US lost 247,000 jobs in July, fewer than expected. The unemployment rate dropped from 9.5% to 9.4%. How can jobs lost translate to reduced unemployment? The number of people actively looking for work also fell – reducing the unemployment rate.
Don’t blame the Obama administration for this one. The unemployment rate has been calculated using this method since the 1950’s. If you stop looking for work you are no longer considered unemployed. If you are working part time because you can not find a full time position you are considered employed.
The unemployment rate for July including all labor “under utilization” is 16.8%.
Feel better now?
Like the idea of Nationalized Health Care? Show your support for the government. Go buy a car from GM. I hear you can buy on Ebay. Don’t want to buy from GM? You do have a choice. Hummm.
The state of Michigan, home to one of the highest unemployment rates in the country (15.2%) is attempting to provide relief to it’s citizens.
Determined to fight the unemployment problem, Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Mark Brewer has suggested raising the minimum wage to $10 per hour and requiring all employers to obtain health insurance for employees.
Hint to the Democratic Party Chairman: Fighting unemployment usually means trying to reduce the number of people who are unemployed.
Michigan – 50% unemployment coming soon.
President Obama is speaking again on the disastrous state of health care, detailing all the problems, but still providing no solutions. Act and act now is the message before it’s too late. Been there, done that. 800 billion dollar stimulus anyone?
President Obama claims the health care legislation is not about him, is not about politics. Of course it is! President Obama has made health care the most important issue of his administration.
Want support for the health care legislation? Disprove the Congressional Budget Office’s analysis showing the proposed health care legislation will increase cost without a significant increase in both quality and availability of health care. Detail exactly how we pay for this trillion dollar plan. No more soothing words about saving money under this plan – explain how? Cut spending from other programs? Which ones and how much money will be gained?
The devil is in the details, and the details show the proposed plan will not work. Man up and change the plan to something that will bring down cost. Tort reform, conflict of interest for doctors, improved fraud detection, work with the insurance companies to devise plans that will work.
This is no longer a debate about health care. This is about pride. Yours. Get over it.
Wonder where the 787 billion dollars authorized for distribution under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is going? Check out Recovery.gov. You can look up which States and companies are receiving money, which government departments are distributing money, and the type of project funded.
One thing to look out for – seems a lot of money is being spent without a description of the work or service being performed (see below). Probably nothing to worry about. Our government would not waste our tax dollars.

President Obama, having fixed health care and eliminated the threat of global warming climate change, now turns his attention to immigration reform. Wow.
Never mind that the CBO (Congressional Budget Office) claims the Health Care Bill will increase cost, the Cap and Trade Bill will increase unemployment. Can’t wait to see the Immigration Bill.
Stop acting like children running wild in a toy store, slow down and pass meaningful legislation that will help rather than harm, if that’s even possible. Maybe we’ve discovered the real problem.
